Hello everyone!
I have been visiting this forum since a few months now. I spent some time on this forum, collecting pieces of advices and tips on how to get a start in the visual effects industry. I'm nineteen, I'm a student in a film school in France, studying maily on-set techniques, optics and film theory. But I also try to work on my own, in addition to my formation, to learn as much as I can in the visual effects area. I figured out really quickly by reading all the beginners topics that, rotoscoping was the most common way to get a start. That's why I decided to try to build my own reel, in order to have something to show when I'll be looking for an internship next summer. I worked on it all this summer, selecting my best works and I ended with this one minute long reel, only filled with roto work. I didn't want to put anything else in it but roto and, I decided that maybe I would make another reel later for my other kinds of works like 3D compositing and color grading. Don't know if it's a good idea, but otherwise it seemed a bit messy.
So I'd really like to have your opinion about my work.
This is a work in progress reel, so I'm open to all your critics and advices and I'll keep improving it.

New short animated film presentation

Dear all,

I would like to present my most recent work. It is a short animated film, called "Inclusion". The story is about a small ball that is rejected by many different societies, because of its color, shape and pattern. It was a 6 months project, which I made it all (script, storyboard, modeling, animation, light, render and post production).

Adding stereoscopic projects to your reel?

Hi everyone, I'm in the process of creating content to build up my portfolio. I have two projects in which I'm doing some stereoscopic rendering and I want to add them to my reel. I can't assume the viewer of my reel is going to have a pair of 3D glasses so, is it better to not include those projects on my reel or should I incorporate a "non-3d" version of the projects into the reel and direct the viewer to my online portfolio where they can see the 3D version.

Palace in mountains with snowstorm

This is an intro to my clips I made. Mostly just for fun with the sound effects as priority one.

The second sequense I took five pictures put toghether and created a 3d looking environment with a snow storm. This is my first test to create a 3d environment of different kinds of pictures so don't have too much pressure on me

It took a while to make this because there have to a lot of adjustment, keying and color correction to make it look good.

The music was also very carefully done, I used a couple of layers when i made this to get a bass feeling + the ordinary melody. Everything made in Magix Music Maker 14 Premium.
