I must admit I've only worked on two features so far, but yes, I've only used/seen Nuke.

Well the new roto tools in Nuke6 are miles better than v5 but if I was still in the paint and roto department I wouldn't want to give up Silhouette yet.

It is now more plausible to use Nuke for roto....but it seems like it would be a major pain.
Camera tracker makes roto of bolted down items a breeze now tho.

You're using outdated software at DD? That seems very ironic.

I think different shows use different versions of software, but don't quote me on that. I think our pipeline is built around this version, but again, I'm not sure.

Altho not in a studio right now, turning on Mocha + AE CS5, nearly all but the impossible f-b-f rotoŽing is a breeze. I know, I know - alot of software is better and all, but have to give it to the people at Adobe. They know how to compete.
The reel needs fixing. I would not hire a rotoing artist that didnt care for compositing. You must add shadows - composite the stuff, bezier lines are wandering all over, artifacts in your keys. You really need to work a lot more on this if you plan on getting jobs. Plus it wouldnt be bad if it all were your own intellectual property. Ripping off is just cheesy.

I think you're being a bit harsh; I agree that it needs work too, but hey, he's just getting started. When I first became interested in visual effects stuff I didn't have a camera or anything to film my own 'intellectual property', so what's the harm in using existing material to hone his skills? I wouldn't submit it to a studio, but for critique on this forum, it's a good way to practice when you have nothing else.

Youre right. Might have been a bit over the top. Sorry, man. Practice, practice, practice! Dont let something be done with until it is perfect - if you want good feedback. :-) Have a good one.
