(In reply to the spammer whose post will likely be deleted shortly)

You know, you are right. "How to make Runescape money," is probably a really bad idea for what to put on your reel! (Though, part of me is actually tempted now to track that into a billboard in the back of one shot on my reel.)

Kill one and another seems to appear in it's place. I think this calls for an image verification system on sign up!

Yeah - sorry about the spam influx, guys... If you could just keep clicking the "report post" link every time you see one, I'll try to keep on top of it.

We'll see what we can do about getting better verification going...

Well, this is my first post here on VFXTalk..

This thread was very helpful on helping me to determine what to put on my demo reel. I still have about a year left at school to get some stuff done for it but I'll definitely be taking this stuff into consideration! Thanks!

If it is an online reel no smaller than 640x360 for 16:9 and 640x480 for 4:3. That tends to be the ideal size/quality ratio that keeps filesize small but image quality high.

Since this was bumped by a spammer, I thought I'd go through and re-read it all.

The most important stuff I learned probably with the most impact was from Bitterbri who sat down and acted like a recruiter and watched 70 horrible demo reels. This really put the demo reel stuff into perspective for me.

This is a top 10 things not to put in your demo reel thread, not a personal link and bump to your own demo reel.

My demo reel will consist of 4chan images composed into a 3d cube in after effects, long live longcat.

Hi , A bit of a stupid question, I'm sure I know the answer already, but hey!

Does the music for a showreel have to be Copyright free? I only ask becuase i've watched many show-reels and they seem to have big well known songs/music (e.g. I see you - from Avatar)

Thank you

Here's the reel with the Avatar theme on. It starts around 1 min 25 secs.

I thought it was a bit ridiculous to use it but everyone seemed to praise the reel and not comment on this fact which surprised me a lot!
